Real Life Applications
Conveyor Belts are used in many common day activities. When you go grocery shopping you encounter conveyor belts when the cashier at the check out line uses a rubber conveyer belt to transport groceries. When you are at the airports the belts are instrumental in helping to bring you your luggage, and conveyor belts transports goods around factories before they are delivered to stores.
The friction between the wheels under the conveyor belt and the rubber material of the conveyor belt create enough friction for the belt to move, carrying the weight of all the objects on it.They are commonly made out of rubber or plastic. These conveyor belts are often made of two layers. The inner layer, the carcass is made of materials such as polyester and cotton. This layer is to keep the structure of the conveyor belt. The outer layer is a more sturdy material that creates a moderate amount of friction. This allows the conveyor belt to move easily, and not slip off its tracks. Most people encounter these magnificent inventions everyday. Next time you go to the airport of the grocery store just take a look around and you will be surprised at how many conveyor belts you see.
