Research
While we were researching for our project we mostly studied how conveyor belts worked, the traditional materials they were made of, typical coefficients of friction, and the mathematical/scientific concepts of friction. Based on our findings, we developed a hypothesis (below) which suggested different coefficients of friction for different materials. This experiment was pertinent to our chosen topic because the material of the belt and the wheels can affect the speed of the belt, and the speed of the transport of objects.
Hypothesis
The different materials will produce different coefficients of friction when involved in a horizontal conveyor belt simulation. The highest coefficient of friction will be the sandpaper, rubber, control, and then the fabric.
